Clean Air Cab Trees Planted = 1,280

February 28, 2010

Trees For the Future

When Clean Air Cab started, we made a commitment to plant 10 trees for each cab we put on the road. We are keeping that promise with one of our important Partners, Trees for the Future. In February we planted another 250 trees with Trees for the Future to bring our total to 1,280. We are planing these trees in São Paulo State, Brazil to support one of Trees for the Future’s current projects.

Please check out their website, where you can learn more about where and how they plant trees. You can also donate or purchase a certificate for someone else.

Clean Air Cab Responds Swiftly to Toyota Recall

February 10, 2010

Clean Air Cab is Greater Phoenix’s First Complete Fleet of Eco-Friendly Taxis

PHOENIX (Feb 10, 2010) - Yesterday Clean Air Cab received word that an official recall was being issued on the 2010 Toyota Prius. Since the fleet of 25 vehicles operated by Clean Air Cab is comprised of the vehicle targeted by the recall, company management has been in constant communication with Toyota Motor Corporation to immediately remedy the issue.
Through yesterday and early this morning the entire Clean Air Cab Fleet was inspected by the local Toyota dealers. Maintenance per Toyota’s recall guidelines has been performed to ensure the safe operation of the vehicle.
Clean Air Cab management is happy to report that our fleet of cars has completed the recall requirements.
“The safety of our customers and drivers is paramount,” said Steve Lopez, owner of Clean Air Cab. “Once we received official notification of the recall, we immediately brought our cars to the dealership and only allowed vehicles that had been properly inspected to get back on the road in service as taxicabs. We look forward to continuing to serve the transportation needs of Valley locals and visitors, safely, reliably and affordably.”

About Earth Hour:
Since its inception three years ago, Earth Hour has captured the world’s imagination becoming a global phenomenon. Last year, for Earth Hour 2009 nearly one billion people in 4,100 cities in 87 countries on seven continents turned out. In the U.S. alone, 80 million Americans and 318 cities officially voted for action with their light switch. These people and municipalities were joined by iconic landmarks including: the Las Vegas Strip, the Chrysler and Empire State Buildings in New York City, the Space Needle in Seattle, Church of Latter-Day Saints Temple in Salt Lake City, the Gateway Arch in St. Louis and the National Cathedral in Washington DC. International landmarks that turned off their lights included the Great Pyramids of Giza, Parthenon in Athens, St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City, Big Ben and Houses of Parliament in London, Paris’ Elysee Palace and Eiffel Tower, Beijing’s Birds Nest and Water Cube, Symphony of Lights in Hong Kong, Sydney’s Opera House and Christ de Redeemer status in Rio de Janeiro.

How Does Clean Air Cab Offset Their Carbon?

February 1, 2010

Clean Air Cabs Are Carbon Neutral

Clean Air Cab offsets our cabs’ carbon emissions through the purchase of “Carbon Credits” from CarbonFund.org. We have purchased enough credits to ensure all of our cabs are carbon neutral through 100,000 miles and will continue to offset them after that. It’s simply what we do! Since we offset our entire fleet, we have the ONLY 100% Carbon Neutral TaxiCab Fleet in Arizona.

We are often asked about the specifics of these credits and what projects they are connected to. Our first round of credits is helping fund Truck Stop Electrification projects. This project reduces the emissions from large over the road trucks by offering them electricity and temperature control in their trucks’ cabin while they rest at a truck stop.

IdleAire Truck Stop Electrification

IdleAire is the company that has provided a solution. There are an estimated 1.3 million long-haul trucks with sleepers than can take advantage of this service rather than idling their engines during required rest periods of 10 hours for every 11 hours on the road. This helps reduce a whole lot of carbon emissions across the entire country!

The extensive amount of research performed by IdleAire in developing its product has made the company one of the recognized experts in fields ranging from energy and technology to health and the environment. Some of the most significant results of that research are summarized in a collection of fact sheets that can be found on their website - CLICK HERE
